Description
One thing I found especially interesting about Little Rock, Arkansas, was that it almost played a much bigger role in the lead-up to the Civil War. In February 1861, while Arkansas was still deciding whether to secede from the United States, armed citizens threatened to seize the federal arsenal located in what is now MacArthur Park.
The situation ended peacefully after federal troops withdrew to avoid bloodshed — but it’s one of those moments where history could have gone very differently. 🇺🇸✌️🌺
